Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Tsunagi app ("Tsunagi," "the App") handles and why. Tsunagi is developed by Gazi Kutay KURNAZ, an individual developer based in Türkiye ("we," "us"), who is responsible for the data described here.

1. Summary
- Your notes, flashcards, study history, and media stay on your device. We never receive them.
- We collect usage statistics and crash reports to improve the App. They do not contain anything you write or attach and are not linked to your identity. Both are on by default and can be turned off in Settings → Privacy.
- We have no accounts, no ads, and we do not sell data.
2. Your Content
Your notes, flashcards, decks, study history, and any images, audio, video, or 3D models you add are stored only in the App's storage on your device. The App does not send them to us or to anyone else. Camera, microphone, and photo access are requested only when you use a feature that needs them.
Tsunagi does not use Android's system backup. To keep a copy or move to a new device, use Settings → Privacy → Export my data, which saves your data as a file in a location you choose. That file is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere safe.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Usage statistics
We use PostHog to see how the App is used, so we can decide what to improve. We collect:
- which screens you open and which features you use, with simple counts (for example how many cards you reviewed in a session);
- the week you started using the App and the approximate size of your collection as ranges like "100–999 cards";
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system, app version, language, and network type.
Turn it off in Settings → Privacy → Share usage statistics.
3.2 Crash and error reports
We use Sentry to find and fix crashes, errors, and slow parts of the App. A report contains the type of error and where in the App's code it happened, the screens opened just before it, the state of your device at that moment (such as model, operating system, and available memory), and timing measurements of the App's operations.
Turn it off in Settings → Privacy → Send crash reports.
3.3 What both have in common
- They start only after you confirm you have read this policy, and only while their setting is on.
- They never include the text you write or the files you attach.
- Each uses a random identifier created on your device. It is not linked to your name or any account, but because it stays the same between sessions, we treat this data as personal data.
- Your IP address reaches these services as part of the connection. They are set not to store it, and we do not collect your location.
3.4 Content you request from the internet
Some features download files when you use them. Your device then connects directly to the provider, which sees your IP address and the requested file:
- custom fonts from Google Fonts, when you choose a font that is not on your device;
- Chinese stroke-order data from jsDelivr, when a character is not already on your device;
- links you add to your notes or flashcards, from whichever server hosts them.
Downloaded files are kept on your device. We do not receive these requests.
3.5 Google Play
Update checks and rating prompts go through Google Play under Google's own privacy policy. We see only aggregated statistics in the Google Play Console.
4. Who Receives Data and Why
| Provider | Purpose | Legal basis | Location and retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| PostHog (PostHog, Inc.) | Usage statistics (§ 3.1) | Our legitimate interest in improving the App (KVKK Art. 5(2)(f); GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) | EU; deleted after 1 year |
| Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) | Crash and error reports (§ 3.2) | Our legitimate interest in keeping the App working (KVKK Art. 5(2)(f); GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) | EU; deleted after 30 days |
| Google Fonts (Google LLC) | Fonts you request (§ 3.4) | Providing the feature you use (KVKK Art. 5(2)(c); GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) | Google's policy |
| jsDelivr (Volentio JSD Limited) | Stroke-order data you request (§ 3.4) | Providing the feature you use (KVKK Art. 5(2)(c); GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) | jsDelivr's policy |
PostHog and Sentry process data on our behalf under data processing agreements. Both are US companies; their agreements with us include the European Commission's standard contractual clauses for any transfer outside the EU. Google Fonts and jsDelivr may serve requests from servers outside Türkiye and the EU.
We rely on legitimate interest because this data is limited to technical and usage information, is not linked to your identity, and can be turned off at any time. We do not sell data, use it for advertising, or share it for anyone's marketing.
5. Security
Your content is protected by your device's app sandboxing. We recommend keeping your device's screen lock on. Data sent to PostHog and Sentry travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
6. Your Rights
Under the KVKK (Law No. 6698, Art. 11) and, in the EEA, the GDPR, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal data.
- Object: turn off usage statistics or crash reports in Settings → Privacy. Nothing more is sent from that moment.
- Access your content: use Settings → Privacy → Export my data.
- Other requests: email us. Because the data we receive is not linked to your identity, we usually cannot find a specific person's data; it is deleted automatically within the periods in § 4.
You can complain to a data protection authority: in Türkiye, the Personal Data Protection Board (kvkk.gov.tr); in the EEA, the authority of your country.
7. Children
Tsunagi is intended for users aged 18 or older and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. Changes
We may update this policy, for example when we add a feature. We will change the "Last updated" date, and for important changes the App will ask you to confirm that you have read the new version.
